How to cook broccoli to
perfection
Broccoli is full of vitamin C. And whether it's frozen or fresh, raw or cooked, broccoli is an easy and quick way to add green on your plate!
Here are our tips for preparing delicious broccoli that's sure to please everyone!
1) Steam cooking broccoli
- Fill a pot with about 1/3 cup of water.
- Place a double boiler over the pot and bring the water to a boil on high.
- Add the broccoli florets in the double boiler, lower the heat to medium low and let steam for 5 minutes with the lid on, or until the broccoli is ready.
Tip: Add some seasoning to the water to give the broccoli some extra flavour.
2) baked broccoli
- Pre-heat the oven to 425oF. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper then add the broccoli florets on the sheet.
- Drizzle some olive oil on top.
- Bake in the oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
Tip: For even more flavour, sprinkle a pinch of parmesan on top.
3) sautéed broccoli
- Heat a pan on medium.
- Once hot, add a drizzle of olive oil then place the broccoli florets in the pan.
- Sauté 8 to 10 minutes or until ready.
Tip: For extra flavour, add garlic and parsley during cooking.
4) microwaved broccoli
- Place the broccoli florets in a microwave safe bowl.
- Add about a cup of water to the bowl.
- Add the seasoning of your choice.
- Cover most of the bowl but leave a small opening. Heat in the microwave for 5 minutes or until it’s ready.
Don’t forget that broccoli is also tasty when raw! Cut into small florets to make it easier to eat and serve with a dip. Bon appétit!
